Exciting Updates Coming to ExpertView
We are excited to announce a change to the device management platform, ExpertView. Over the past year we have worked hard to update the website with better technology and bring support to our vision on using our latest products like the SOLID+, REMOTE+, and Trailer Box, enabling important new features as easy to use services such as Remote Tacho Download.
Our goal is to convert ExpertView to a future-proof enhanced device-management platform that would enable you to configure our new services and applications to your personal needs and to give us the opportunity to keep your devices automatically up to date with the latest bugfixes and functionality updates.
What’s new?
- Support for the improved and service-based SOLID, REMOTE and Trailer Box product lines.
- UI changes for a better user experience.
- An improved ExpertView REST API that is easier to implement and use than the currently dated WebService, which will make it possible to be updated to meet specific needs more frequently, and includes an active and up-to-date documentation page.
- Support for incremental ExpertView changes without breaking existing customer implementations in the future.
Does it change anything for me?
- All your current devices and our existing products will continue to be supported.
- If you occasionally visit ExpertView in your browser, not much. ExpertView will have a new look and feel compared to the older version.
- If you use iControl, you will be required to download and use the latest version of iControl (4.2.1), which is available in the Squarell Support Portal at https://support.squarell.com/.
- If you actively use the ExpertView WebService, you will need to implement the new ExpertView REST API, which replaces the current WebService. It is important to us that we can help you in making the transition to the new API as smooth as possible. That is why we have invested in extensive documentation for the ExpertView API. There are little to no changes in the endpoints and data returned by the API, however where the old version returned XML data, the new API will return standardized JSON data instead.
- Live documentation on the REST API is available here: https://expertview.squarell.com/api/swagger-ui/index.html.
On September 24 we migrated the old ExpertView and its WebService to their new versions. From this point on, you will be required to use the latest iControl and have implemented the ExpertView REST API if you want to continue to have access to the latest ExpertView data.
We are confident that these new enhancements will benefit everyone currently using ExpertView and our products, by making the integration of our latest products and new services more convenient. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us a message if you have any questions or feedback.
